These days green is big. The environmental movement has been around for decades, but issues such as global warming, recycling, and saving the planet have never been so much in the spotlight. Though many corporations have arrived late in the game (cynics might suspect they saw another type of green in “green marketing”), many New Agers and believers in the mysterious and paranormal have long incorporated environmentalism into their beliefs.

Among people who claim to have been abducted or contacted by space aliens, messages about world peace and warnings of impending environmental disaster are common.

We possibly may have done an “exchange” with aliens from the planet Serpo.

So everyone knows about the supposed Roswell, New Mexico UFO crash, and most people have heard that some little grey aliens were found at the crash site. One offshoot of the story that many folks haven’t heard is that one of the big black-eyed beings survived. This creature is said to have been treated well enough to have developed an affinity for his captors.

According to one version of the story, the alien was allowed to contact his home several years later - and with a good report for its American captors. This eventually lead to an ‘exchange program’ with the aliens in which 12 Americans went to the far-off ET planet, and one alien stayed here. There the American explorers lived happily for 13 years before most of them returned to Earth.

Blame it on the aliens.

Aliens were responsible for a series of unexplained fires in fridges, TV’s and mobile phones in an Italian village, according to an Italian government report.

Canneto di Caronia, in northern Sicily, drew attention three years ago after residents reported everyday household objects bursting into flames.

TV news footage at the time showed electrical appliances as well as cookers, a pile of wedding presents and furniture smouldering.

If elected president, Bill Richardson claims he’d have an interest in opening up the Roswell files to bring out more truth about the incident.

If he wins his bid for the White House, Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson may be just the man to get to the bottom of the 60-year-old Roswell UFO mystery.

Answering questions at a townhall meeting Friday, a Dell employee asked Richardson about the 1947 incident in which many people still believe a flying saucer landed near the eastern New Mexico town.

“I’ve been in government a long time, I’ve been in the Cabinet, I’ve been in the Congress and I’ve always felt that the government doesn’t tell the truth as much as it should on a lot of issues,” said Richardson, who is governor of New Mexico.

In a situation that UFO enthusiasts refuse to let die (with good reason):

Eyewitnesses claim that something moved across the sky and crashed in the woods about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh in December 1965. Traffic was tied up in the area and curiosity seekers were kept away by soldiers. After a search, the Air Force said the likely explanation was a meteor, but nothing was found.
