How To Unschedule a Tweet with Hootsuite

I like to use Hootsuite for managing Twitter accounts, both on my PC and Droid. It just works so well and is easy to use.

I just ran into a situation where I scheduled a message and then wanted to unschedule it. I got thrown for a bit of a loop when trying to figure out how to unschedule a message with Hootsuite, so I thought I’d share the solution just in case anybody else ran into this one.

It’s actually pretty easy. But it’s not as obvious as a single button on the dashboard.

Effective Web Forms, Tweeting Drunk & Web Designin’ Ladies

I’m glad that baseball season is finally back in gear. Twins games will now be on TV/radio almost every night, yeah! These West Coast games are a little crazy though, I gotta stay up late to catch the whole game.

Web Form Tips

Have you ever used a web form that just left all kinds of things to be desired? I have, and it wasn’t a fun experience for me, or probably any other people that were using it. A bad form can ruin a web site experience quickly.

Bad forms are easy to avoid though, they just need to be easy to use and easy to understand.

Check out these 8 rules for effective web forms to get an idea of what I’m talking about. If you have experience designing usable web forms, a lot of these points might be nothing new. Do you already think that the idea of a reset button is just not a good idea?

If you are looking for ways to improve your form building approach, give it a quick read.

Don’t Tweet Drunk

Not a good idea, I probably don’t need to even get into the details.

In case you’re not sure why drunk tweeting might not be a good idea, check out these 5 reasons to not do it. The picture at the top of the post is pretty awesome too, I must admit. I feel sorry for that guy.

Inspiring Web Design

Web design inspiration is always a good thing, right? I love to check out different web sites to see what people are trying to do on the web. There is an overabundance of awesome design on the Internet, hidden among all the weird (bad) design that is out there as well.

My latest inspiration came from viewing this massive list of top women web designers. Very nice design work abounds.

Twitter Obituaries & Online Backups

What?

Yeah that’s a weird combo of items, but it’s what I’ve seen today.

On to the first item:

Twitter Obituaries

So I ran across this cool page today where people are posting in 140 words or less what the obituary would say if Twitter were to die.

Very, very creative posts.

What if Twitter did disappear? It hasn’t been around too long, but it’s taken the world by storm. I think there would be a fair amount of worldwide Twitter withdrawal if it did go the way of the dinosaurs.

Online Backups

This might not be what you think.

Everybody knows it’s a good idea to backup your stuff right? But what about all the stuff you have out there in the “cloud”?

There are many options to back that stuff up, so if you’re favorite cloud service goes the way of the dinosaurs, you have your stuff that was stored on that cloud service.

Check out Backupify.

Cas passed this one on to me today via email. I’m probably going to sign up because it looks like this type of service will save my ass someday, since I rely heavily on the cloud. Hopefully the cloud never clears, but if it does, we can be prepared.
